Tips on how to clean the interior of your roof lantern

To clean the interior of your roof lantern:

Firstly, move any furniture that sits under the lantern. Then place a sheet of material over the floor to avoid any potential mess and grab a sturdy step ladder. For enhanced safety, make sure that someone is standing at the bottom of the ladder.

Use a duster to reach into the corners and dust away any cobwebs that have gathered.

Gently clean the interior glass with a non-abrasive sponge, a reputable glass cleaning product and warm soapy water.

Where possible, dry the roof lantern with a soft micro-fibre cloth for a clear, streak-free finish.

We recommend repeating this process and cleaning the interior of your roof lantern every two to three months to ensure it remains looking as good as new.

Tips on how to clean the exterior of your roof lantern

Cleaning the exterior of your roof lantern can be slightly tricker than cleaning the inside.

Get a specialist sturdy ladder and again, make sure that someone is standing at the bottom for extra security. When on the ladder and near the roof lantern, it’s important that you watch your footing and do not stand or lean on the lantern.

Pick away any greenery and moss.

Clean the exterior frame with a non-abrasive sponge, glass cleaning products and warm soapy water. Make sure that you never use harsh chemicals or abrasive cleans and try not to apply too much soap, as this may spill onto the glass and tamper with the self-cleaning properties of the glass.

Where possible, dry the roof lantern with a soft micro-fibre cloth for a clear, streak-free finish.

We recommend cleaning your roof lantern on an overcast, perhaps a dull day, as generally speaking cleaning the glass on a warm sunny day will encourage the windows to dry more quickly, potentially causing unnecessary streaks.
